| Editorial Review | R-Anell Homes are above average modular homes. They are now part of the Commodore building group which is a good match because they both have a long reputation of quality modular work. R-Anell has grown into one of the largest modular home providers in the Southeast. Our grouchy mystery shopper couldn't find anything to complain about on their website which matches the good things we heard from the builders we interviewed. This would be a good choice for home buyers in the Southeast. If you are looking for a modular home in the Southeast make sure to place R-Anell Homes on your list. |

This house was purchased in 1979 and has been a wonderful home for our family!! We have not had any structural problems at all..its as air tight today as it was when it was built...we love this home!! I would like to know the shade of grey that was used on the exterior?? built in 1979

Have had our home since 1994 and still haven't seen anything built better, stick, site or otherwise. The dealer was the worse we ever dealt with (they went out of business shortly after we bought our home) but the home has been a great investment. Other than normal wear & tear with time this home has held up very well.

We worked with Pro Tech Builder near Lynchburg VA on pricing from R-Anell for some home options we were looking at. R-Anell was the most responsive of any of the modular builders we contacted for our home building project. Their pricing was excellent and their options are a great value. I definitely would recommend both Pro Tech and R-Anell for those looking to build a home using modular construction. You can't go wrong with either one.

We bought our R-Anell home in 2001. I can truly say the house was very well built. For 16 yrs we have had no structural issues others have described. No Window issues. No floor problems. I quess we have been the lucky ones. Would I recommend going "Modular"! I sure in 16 years building materials and finishes have greatly improved! Satisfied in Trenton

Bought new from First Value Homes (no longer in business and more like "last value") in 1996. Built in Denver, NC. It was set a few inches off. There was no tar paper under the shingles. The siding was not nailed properly. Several large bags of loose staples and roofing nails were recovered from the roof. We have already had to replace the roof after numerous leaks. Now, we have discovered the porch has no slope, there was no flashing between the porch and house (I know...mason's responsibility but they were on the FVH approved list of masons) and no house wrap except around the windows. Siding on back of house not properly nailed. Unless their quality has improved over the last 19 years, I would be hesitant to buy an R-Anell home. If you do, I would suggest checking their work down to the nth degree after the house is set.

Been in this house now for 14 years. Bought it in 2001 and the windows leak air and they did not put black plastic under the siding for draft and moisture control. I will never buy another one from these people.

Bought the home in 2002,once we moved in had a few small problems, they were fixed right away. Over the years 3 windows have craked and are coming apart, I guess warrenty has gone on them, so I,ll fix them when I get the money. Other than that we are very pleased with our home.thanks it was put together wery well!

We had purchased our home in 1997. I really like it but over the years we had problems with the windows, cracks where the home was put together, and linoleum was cheap, and not enough closets.

We bought our home in 2004, really like it. Our main problems were with the contractor our dealer used. Special K out of greensboro, several issues with roofing, plumbing, wiring, painting, floor seams(worst). Do have a couple of bad windows too. Contacted dealer and contractor, contractor filed bankruptcy (just changed name and kept working) dealer not interested in fixing anything. great house, just be sure and get lots of referrals and check history on dealer and contractor used to install and finish.

Though I have not bought a R-Anell Home but I can answer some problems with some of the reviews and about the bankruptcy. My Uncle founded R-Anell homes and if you knew him he did not like his homes called a trailer. He then built the company up and then he sold the company and retired. but after a few years there quality went down and they filed for bankruptcy. My uncle then bought them back and started to rebuild there reputation but unfortunately died in a plain crash before he could finish. His son now runs the company and has now rebuilt it from is past problems.

We bought our home in 2003 form a dealer that is no longer in business from the time we moved into our home we have had subfloor issues and it is getting worst the stair is our main concern because it squeeks really loud another problem we have is that a few of our windows are getting cloudy lf we can only get these things taken care of or if someone could tell us what to do to fix these problems we would really appreciate it to sum it up we love our r-anell home if we had to do it again we would only we would use another dealer

my husband and moved in our home in 2006,we were recommended by carolina modular,who since went out of busness.I dont like the way the floor give in one place,because when you walk pass the glasses shake,and i wish i could have chosen better siding around the doors,but all in all it is pretty good modular home. if arnell homes could critque better materials,or if that is the only material they can use around the doors.

I purchased my home from Home Solutions here is Asheville in 1999. The first problem I had was that the hot water heater piping was not glued and saoked the fllor before we moved in. The carpet had to be replaced. After I purchased it and had moved in , A-Rnell filed for bankrupcy. I did not get hardley any problems that were wrong with the house fixed. The loacal distributor here also closed. I have to have a new roof and the roofer said that it was one of the worse jobs he had every seen. I have lived in the house now for 12 years and all in all (besides the quality) I still like it. I am not sure if they have recoverd from all the bankrupcy issues yet.

We had many problems with our home. The siding and roof came with the wrong color. They were not willing to fix this and said it was our fault for letting it be brought onto our property that way. Our basem*nt wall is bowing in and they will not fix it. The basem*nt walls are wet and they said it was our fault for driving near the house, which we didn't. R-Anell does not hold the local installer to any quality controls. No matter what you hear, you will probably regret getting an R-Anell home just like I regret purchasing from them. Every one of our concerns were brought before R-Anell. In the meeting they said they would not fix the color problem, even though the local installer filled out the form we were supposed to fill out. They said they would pay us for things that were promised but not delivered, but when they wrote that amendment they worded it to make it so we were being paid for our "inconveniences" and not what they promised us. I would never deal with them again knowing what I know now.

My husband and I bought our R-Anell home in 1993, and we still love it. I designed it, and they built it just as I wanted it; even today, there's very little I would change about it. Many of our neighbors bought cheaper homes, and have had issues we've never encountered. Even friends or family who bought 'stick-built' homes have had problems with cheaper construction. Ours is a very well built home, and we'd buy another in a heartbeat.

Purchased in 2004. The exterior door frames in these homes will not withstand the weather. They are vinyl wrapped untreated white wood and dissolve from the bottom up as soon as moisture gets under the vinyl. Have one of their largest models and this has been the biggest issue. The flooring at rear deck took some damage due to water..The door frames are a huge issue all three need to be replaced after only 5 years. They also installed mismatched appliances and blamed it on the dealer.

We bought our R-Anell home in 1998 from Suits Homes in Siler City. They had so much patience with me because I made so many changes and upgrades to the floor plan. R-Anell did a good job building it to our specifications. We had a basic model and built on a porch and back deck ourselves. We also chose to keep our modular on the framing. It's been a great home and built well. Only issues have been with the subflooring in kitchen & bath. They used that chipped wood board and one type of tree in that chipped wood reacted to the glue for the vinyl. We have a white vinyl floor, so it looks like rust stains showing in some places. It gradually shows up more and more each year (12 years). I'm sure they probably use something different now. We have been so happy with our R-anell home! The dealer and manufacturer were great in my opinion.

Well sounds like a bunch of BS to me. I sold R-Anell homes and they build a good product and had excellent service. Some people just don't know how to turn a screw driver or hammer a nail so they have to call the factory. Get over it! When I sold these homes I wasn't cheap and if you wanted a cheap price then out the door you went. The dealers with sales centers have to make a profit to stay in business. So when a customer negotiates a cheaper price your actually just are selling out your quality. The best bet is to buy home only and hire a modular construction company to finish the home separate from the dealer.

We bought our ranch style R-Anell home in 2003 from Quality Homes (kna Royal Homes). From the day we moved in, we have had floor structure issues. One bathroom has had the floor replaced twice and needs it again. There is so much give in the floors when you walk that everything bounces. And now we have so many areas in the floor that have weak/soft spots as if the floor is giving away. I would not recommend R-Anell to anyone. And I definately do not recommend OSB flooring. Can anyone tell us if this is covered under the warranty. The construction product is not holding up!

My wife and I baught a home from R-Anell (Well Clayton Homes but its an R-Abnell Home) about 3 years ago and its the nicest home we've owned yet. We did have an issue with one of the windows leaking after 1.5 years but they fixed it within a week. I also noticed they make it much easier than it used to be to find a builder near you. Our home was build in Denver N.C. We purchased it in Sanford at Factory Housing, which is no longer in business. Steve West was the manager at the time of purchase. We love our new home, there is olny one problem we have with it. We moved in July 4th 2004. There are three windows that are cloudy, gone bad. We want to know if the manufacturer will make them right. Windows such last much longer than four years.
